Budha Dal Public School


Buddha Dal Public School was founded by Jathedar Baba Santa Singhji, the Chief of the Buddha Dal, on May 6, 1984. The school started with just 15 students, but today it has over 2400 students on its rolls, many of them children of Army officers. Higher Education Institutes In Patiala







Mohindra College of Patiala The Mohindra College is one of the oldest institute of higher studies in northwest India. The college was established for the people of Patiala in 1870 by the then Maharaja Mohendra Singh, a great supporter of modern languages. The college was started in 1875. The founder of the college was Lord Northbrook.









Punjabi University




Punjabi University was established on April 30, 1962 for the promotion of Punjabi literature, art and language. The campus is located on the Patiala- Chandigarh road. It is just 7 km from the city of Patiala. It is still the largest university in the state. The campus is spread over an area of 600 acres. Its faculty includes 500 lecturers.















Thapar University , Patiala


Thapar University was established in 1956. Formerly known as Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology(TIET), it covers an area of 250 acres. A renowned industrialist late Mr Karam Chand Thapar of the Thapar Group of companies was the founder of this institute. The main purpose of this institute is to provide training to undergraduates and postgraduates in the field of engineering and technology. It also offers courses at Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D levels. It ranks fifteenth in India. The institute lays strong stress on research. It has close contacts with the industry. In the last four decades, Thapar University has grown gradually in activities and size. Till today, it has prepared 10,000 engineers for the service of the country. The institute was granted the status of university by the University Grants Commission in 1985.







Yadavinder Public School


Yadavindra Public School is considered as one of the top Indian Public schools. The founder of this school was the late Maharaja Yadavindra Singh , father of Capt. Amarinder Singh, a leading politician of Punjab and a former chief minister of the state.
This school was started for the children of those families which had to leave YPS’s sister school Atchison College, Lahore, during partition of India in 1947. In reality, this is a sister school of Aitchison’s College. The school is affiliated to the ISCE Board. Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, near Chandigarh, is a branch of this school.The school has a good stadium, which was built in 1938 for the Commonwealth Games. There is a 25-meters long swimming pool with three playgrounds for football and hockey. It also has a horse-riding ground. The school has its own well-bred horses. Moreover, other games like badminton, basketball and table tennis can also be opted for by the students. The students also participate in extra-curricular activities. Its library has a vast range of books, magazines and newspapers. There are 1600 students and 100 teachers in the school at present.
